Read galvanized coil: from process to application in-depth analysis 
In the vast landscape of modern industry, galvanized coil, as a crucial metal material, is quietly playing an irreplaceable role. From the towering buildings, to the speed of the car on the road; from home electrical equipment, to all kinds of infrastructure, galvanized coil is everywhere. So, what is the unique charm of this seemingly ordinary metal coil? Today, we will take you in-depth understanding of galvanized coil.


First, the definition of galvanized coil and production process 
(a) Definition 
galvanized coil, simply put, is in the cold rolled steel or hot rolled steel surface evenly coated with a layer of zinc metal coil. This thin layer of zinc, as to the steel plate to wear a layer of strong “armor”, so that its performance has been greatly enhanced.
(ii) Production process 
The production process of galvanized coils is mainly divided into two types: hot-dip galvanizing and electro-galvanizing, of which hot-dip galvanizing is more widely used.
Hot-dip galvanizing process: First of all, the strictly pre-treated steel is carefully immersed in a molten zinc solution at a temperature of up to approx. 450°C. The steel is then dipped into the molten zinc solution. Under the action of high temperature, the steel and the zinc liquid quickly react to form a solid layer of zinc-iron alloy on the surface of the steel, which is then covered with a layer of pure zinc outside the alloy layer. The whole process is a fascinating fusion of metals, and the hot-dip galvanizing process gives galvanized coils excellent corrosion resistance thanks to its powerful bonding, with a zinc layer thickness of typically 30 - 100 μm, which effectively protects against the elements.
Electro-galvanizing: This process involves placing carefully treated steel into a specific electrolytic solution and applying an electric current so that the zinc ions in the electrolytic solution, driven by the force of the electric field, are deposited in an orderly manner on the surface of the steel to form a uniform zinc layer. The advantage of the zinc electroplating process is that it can precisely control the thickness of the zinc layer, which can realize the coating of very thin zinc layer, and the uniformity of the layer is extremely high, which can meet some of the application scenarios with demanding requirements for surface quality and precision.
Second, the performance characteristics of galvanized coils 
(a) Excellent corrosion resistance 
This is the most prominent characteristic of galvanized coils. The zinc layer is like an impenetrable barrier, the steel plate and the outside world of oxygen, moisture and a variety of corrosive media cleverly separated, greatly slowing down the rust and corrosion process of the steel plate. Even in humid coastal areas, highly polluted industrial environments or acidic and alkaline environments, galvanized coils can remain stable for a long time, is not easy to be eroded, and its service life compared to ordinary steel plate is greatly extended for a variety of projects and products to provide a reliable long-term protection.
(ii) Good processing performance 
Galvanized coil not only has excellent corrosion resistance, but also excellent performance in processing. It has good formability, can easily adapt to cold bending, shearing, stamping and other complex processing technology, is accurately processed into a variety of shapes and sizes of parts to meet the diverse needs of different industries. At the same time, the presence of galvanized layer does not have a negative impact on the original welding performance of steel, welding process is still smooth, reliable, to ensure that the manufacturing process between the components can be firmly connected.

From the appearance, the surface of galvanized coil is smooth and flat, showing a bright, uniform metallic luster, with good decorative properties.
